NIA’s CIP Services Description
Our “building-block” approach develops a Controlled Insurance Program (CIP) through four basic consulting phases:

Phase 1: Feasibility Analysis
Initially, NIA conducts an objective analysis to familiarize the client with the CIP alternative and to determine whether the implementation of a CIP would be beneficial for the construction program in question. All financial and non-financial factors that come into play with the use of a CIP are considered, and realistic cost and savings projections are developed using our financial simulation models.

Phase 2: Planning I Development
Once a client has decided to proceed with a CIP, NIA facilitates the selection of a broker and insurer through a competitive, two-part Request for Qualification / Request for Proposal process. Based on a thorough review of risk exposures, NIA also recommends coverage specifications and addresses all CIP operating requirements in the areas of administration, safety and loss prevention, claims management, and reporting. The financial structure of the program is also formalized during this phase.

Phase 3: Implementation
NIA assists in the negotiation of a contract with the selected broker and insurer, incorporating coverage specifications into broad policy contractual documents. Other materials developed and implemented at this stage include administrative protocols, procedure manuals, safety manuals, and a comprehensive CIP orientation and training program. The scope of our implementation also identifies to all construction project parties their roles and responsibilities with respect to the CIP’s day-to-day operation.

Phase 4: Oversight I Management
For the duration of the program, NIA coordinates the many activities that contribute to the success of a CIP. We continuously monitor the various CIP party’s assigned responsibilities to ensure that these obligations are fulfilled.
